Menopause is officially defined as the point in time when a woman's periods stop permanently. It is not a disease!

The symptoms that we tend to associate with menopause are actually due to perimenopause, the transition period leading to menopause. This a time when a woman is dealing with complex hormonal changes. Typical complaints during this transition are hot flashes, night sweating, insomnia, palpitations, headaches, brain fog, vaginal dryness, loss of sexual desire, mood swings, anxiety.

Acupuncture can be very effective in dealing with perimenopausal symptoms. The treatment will be tailored to your particular pattern; in addition, we will examine the possible lifestyle and diet changes.

The number of treatments needed will depend on the severity of your symptoms and on the length of time you are experiencing them. Even if your symptoms improve after a few treatments, my recommendation is to have at least 10-12 treatments in order to make the results sustainable.
