How we do things

During our first appointment, we will discuss your health complaint and I will ask you a series of questions. This will help me form a diagnosis and design a treatment that is right for you.  After, we will proceed to treatment. This is a longer appointment as there is quite a bit of talking involved; it takes about an hour and a half.

The following appointments will be shorter and after a brief update, we will continue with the treatment. The typical appointment lasts 45 to 60 minutes.

Acupuncture treatments involve small needles that are way thinner than the ones you experience when you go for a blood test. Most people feel a small discomfort during the insertion but the sensation subsides very quickly. Generally, the needles will be inserted in your arms and legs. If your main complaint is pain, the treatment will be distal from that particular pain.

Acupuncture is no magic pill and although some people will see dramatic results after the first treatment, for most of us the shifts will be subtle in the beginning and become more obvious after a few treatments.

If you decide to start treatments, my recommendation is to have the first four over a period of 10-14 days. After the 4th treatment, we will sit down and assess how your body reacted and if there is any progress. If there are improvements, I will suggest a treatment plan and at this point, I will be able to better assess how long it will take. Please keep in mind that the longer you had your problem the longer it will take for acupuncture to help you. It is a huge difference in how long it takes to treat let's say a pain that you have for a week versus one that lingered for a few years.
